Let's take a look back at the early days in 2006 and 2007, where armies began. A time before websites and xat chats, Miniclip forums were a popular method of communication between groups of Club Penguin players.

A battle in 2006, these known as the Colour Wars.[/caption]Armies weren't very organised here, early on before they became advanced. The ACP, the first known army after the color wars generation, were created in 2006. Nothing else big really happened that year, until 2007, which saw the creation of the big armies such as the Nachos, the UMA, IW, RPF and DW.

An early Nachos event on Club Penguin.[/caption]2008 and 2009 were important years for Club Penguin armies, they began using the xat chat box platform and Wordpress websites became common. The year of 2009 was also when the first news site, Club Penguin Army Central was created.
Over the next years, armies began to increase in popularity, many people from all around the world joined and fought in wars that would last months, and compete in tournaments. Every army was wanting that first place on the top ten, and were invading servers from their enemies until they could do it no more.
Armies had significant occasions where they would fall and rise. 2013 is said to be one of the most substantial years of armies in history. There were many more armies fighting by that time such as Pirates, LT, WV, DCP, NW, SWAT, ST, Golds and a whole lot more armies that have made a massive difference.

An event of the Light Troops.[/caption]The army community's growth later stopped, and a decline was seen in 2015 and 2016, up until the original Club Penguin game became discontinued in March 2017. The news of Club Penguin's closure spread fast, and plenty of army veterans returned to revisit the game one last time.

The last day of the original Club Penguin.[/caption]When the Club Penguin game closed, many people were unsure of what was next for armies. Some thought the community would perish, and others thought moving to Private servers were a good idea. In the end, the community did carry on and some armies began to operate on games such as Club Penguin Rewritten. RPF is one very well known example of this, and has been one of the largest armies ever since 2017.

There are still hundreds, if not thousands of people, checking Club Penguin army related websites each week and joining in with events. Army leaders are concerned, and are unsure of ways to boost their sizes at this stage. A lot of people involved now wonder where is next from here. With an uncertain future ahead, could the end of Club Penguin armies be approaching us under our very eyes?

its not the end. We will always just bounce back at them
ReplyDeleteWith CPR now having a lot less players than CP did many years ago, it is harder to find new recruits - however, there are still some good-sized armies around at the moment and if members stay active then hopefully we can sustain this.
ReplyDeleteWe took a big hit when CP shut down but our community has managed to continue, and even when CPR shuts down, we'll still be here as a community of friends.
We'll evolve in some ways, and most of them will be more-or-less progress-based.
